Evolution of the Television

The television is believed to be one of the greatest inventions of man. First developed in the late 1800s, the television was able to provide optical display about human life during those times. However, the process was too complicated for an average man to understand how it works. So, in the 1920s, the television was further developed to properly function in a way which the people of today are accustomed to. Actually, it was a Scottish inventor, John Logie Baird, who had shown the world how the television really works. Nevertheless, images were only shown in monochromatic shades, which is usually had a black and white effect.

People all over the world were using black-and-white televisions to be able to watch different shows that were shown for informational and entertainment purposes. In fact, the television played a vital role during the World War I and World War II. People learned about the announcements made by their authorities. Aside from that, people also gathered some news about the progress of the wars from all over the world. However, in some places, the use of televisions was prohibited, leaving the people without any source of information about the war.

In the 1950s, the use of the colour television technology was introduced to the general public. By this time, more and more people, especially those from developed countries, started to buy colour television sets for their homes. Until now, colour televisions are still making a big profit out of its sales around the world.

The colour television technology has not changed even up to this day. Nevertheless, it is in the type of display that TV manufacturers have focussed their attention on. Today, the most common display technologies used are plasma display panel or simply plasma and the liquid crystal display or LCD. Indeed, since its introduction in the 1800s, the television has evolved so much and has transformed into what it is today!
