A lonely widescreen telly sitting in your living room can be a tasteless sight to look at. You must do something to make it shine by mixing it up with suitable decors to complement the lustre the way LCD TVs should be. However, the challenge comes from the sheer size and heft of a large television. Thus, getting decorative accessories that must be suitable for such a huge piece of appliance is simply daring. If you know how to do this, then you can have a beautifully decorated living room that can also serve as the entertainment centre of your home.
You can paint the wall behind the TV as an accent wall is what you must do. Choose colours that match the rest of the decor in your living room. For best result, paint the wall darker than the paint throughout the rest of the room so that it will stay neutral but would still stand out. When you are done, place the TV against the wall. If you do not have an entertainment centre, you can use a fireplace mantle or install floating shelves around the TV.
Do not over-decorate around the telly as it will be obviously distracting for the viewer. If you cannot find a suitable decor to match your TV, try buying an entertainment cabinet. Or, you can create your own setup by using inexpensive bookshelves to flank the TV on both sides. A piece of plywood must be cut to form a bridge above the TV. You may request your local hardware shop to cut the wood for you based on the measurement that you can provide. This will look awesome when you stain it with the same colour as the shelves.
